Abstract
In India, exclusion involves social processes that exclude, discriminate, isolate and deprive some groups on the basis of group characteristics. The trickle down theory stridently propagated by the neo-liberal economists failed to do away with social problems like poverty and unemployment. Growth can also be poverty reducing and ameliorative. The Founding Fathers of our Constitution appreciated these issues and laid the philosophical and legal basis for a just and equitable society in the Constitution. The Preamble seeks to secure to all citizens, Justice, social, economic and political, Equality of status and opportunity and to promote among them all Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual. The concept of Social Justice seeks removal of economic inequalities, provision of a decent standard of living to the working people and protection of the interests of the weaker sections of the community.
