Abstract
Police repression and administrative high-handedness is common in India when project-affected people protesting against development-induced displacement demand justice. How ironical that instead of ameliorating their sufferings and working for their humane and just resettlement and rehabilitation, the government machinery resorts to brutal violence. Such acts of State sponsored barbarism are to be condemned and the guilty punished. It is important to document how such crimes are committed by the law enforcing authorities and the just demands and rights of the people suppressed, so that public opinion is created against such oppression. Case study material is presented here to bring about a greater awareness of such horrifying realities
