Abstract
A field survey was carried out in the Nawanshahar district of Punjab to study the sources of information on loan-assisted income generating activities for women beneficiaries under the Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP). The extent of dependency on formal sources was on the high side for general information (including on red tape and rules and procedures), but the information-source dependency shifted to personal sources for marketing-related information. The overall effectiveness of sources was found to be of a moderate level, which suggests the need to strengthen them.
