Various schemes and policies have been implemented by the ruling elite in the name of the wellbeing and upliftment of the weaker sections, but a major segment of the population is still lagging behind. This is even more so in the case of a backward state like Bihar. In this paper, an attempt is made to sketch the educational standing of the weaker sections in Bihar, probe some of the internal differences and make suggestions about what needs to be done for the upliftment of these communities.
