Underground Atlanta, in its original form, was created, then flourished, declined and closed, all within a 10 year span. But its closing left such agap in Atlanta's array of assets that city leaders felt compelled to resurrect the concept, albeit in a new and more ambitious manner. This article outlines the development of the new Underground Atlanta and explores a number of issues relevant to urban tourism.
