Abstract
Rapid growth and constantly changing delivery systems subject the travel and tourism industry to dramatic fluctuations in the number of workers and the skill required to efficiently deliver the product. This is evidenced by seasonal peaks and valleys in the volume of activity, and consequently the personnel needs present a major challenge to the tourism manager. This article explores the use of travel research techniques and data to assist management in better anticipating staffing requirements, and planning for an orderly delivery system.
