This paper describes a study conducted in Southwestern Wyoming in the early 1960s to determine the comparative impact of through versus recreational travelers. While the data used are old, it is felt that the methodology used is worthy of review as studies of this nature are rare in the travel industry. It is hoped that results shown will encourage others to design surveys to further test the comparative impact of these travelers.
