Abstract
This article describes a case study of visitors to Vancouver Island during the summer of 1976, when there was an increase in ferry fares and a decline in visitation. Controversy raged as to the cause of this decline in visitation-ferry rate increase or other external factors. Data were compiled and analyzed through regression analysis to produce a backcast of what would have happened to visitation if fares had remained constant.
