The article takes a second look at the novel L’Herbe, by Claude Simon, 60 years after it first publication. The work is now included in the Bibliothèque de la Pléiade series (Paris: Gallimard) with an extensive scholarly apparatus edited by Alastair B. Duncan. The article makes use of this new material together with the fruits of the author’s own research into the background of the novel.
