Claire Denis asks this question in the images of the human body’s solidity in her films and, more specifically, in her discussions ofBeau Travail. Projecting thoughts onto a pair of short sequences from her ‘African’ films,Beau Travail andChocolat, this paper touches on Denis’s answers.
