This article addresses the need for more research-derived data on the sexual practices of gay males, 13 to 19 years old, and subsequent fact-based preventive interventions because the number of AIDS cases among this group is rapidly increasing both in the United States and worldwide. The authors provide a comprehensive overview of unsafe sexual behaviors and review the literature on gay male adolescents' perceptions regarding safer sex. They also include suggested questionnaire items and discuss implications for counselors and educators.
