Abstract
“America within the past hundred years has produced a panoply of images of ministry, which have remarkably paralleled the changing image of the hero in secular journals and magazines … When images of the minister become an issue, either for the pastor or the congregation, there is a dual temptation. Some struggle to escape the old images … But there is also another temptation. Many ministers are tempted to barricade themselves within inherited images.”
