Abstract
“The churches may not be Christian, but they offer a magnificent opportunity as a battleground where community might be risked from the perspective of the Gospel. What do we mean by Gospel? I am not certain that the Gospel can be well expressed by the theologian. The Gospel is not something you write. It is certainly not something you can take for granted, as the theologian usually does. The Gospel is an event. It happens, appears, in community.”
