Baxter's life is most fully recorded in Powicke'sF. J. two volumes, A Lite of the Reuerend Richard Baxter, (1924) and The Reverend Richard Baxter under the Cross (1927). His voluminous writings are reviewed in Orme W., Life and Times of Richard Baxter (1830), published separately and as Vol. I of Ormes twenty-three-volume edition of Baxter's Practical Works. These were also reprinted in four volumes in 1838.

An abridgment of Baxter's posthumous Reliquiae Baxterianae(1696), published as Autobiograph of Richard Baxter, ed. Lloyd-Thomas J. M., appeared in Everyman's Library in 1931. Wilkinson J. T. reprinted Baxter's Breviate, of the Life of Margaret … (1681), with introduction and notes, as Richard Baxter and Margaret Charlton, in 1928, and published an abridgment of the Reformed Pastor in 1939. The Kidderminster ministry is interestingly described in Kemp's C. F. A Pastoral Triumph (New York, 1948) There is no satisfactory exposition of Baxter's theology available.
