Becoming God’s people: vocation,vulnerability,and the discovery of the authentic self

Abstract

This article explores the place of vulnerability within the discernment process and the journey towards greater self-awareness for individuals. It examines how vulnerability paves the way for calling in biblical tradition and mystical theology and argues for a discovery of the ‘authentic self’ to replace the ‘imagined self’ societal norms dictate.
