Abstract
Some theologians endorse universalism about salvation, the view that God ultimately will save all people with eternal life. This article explains why such universalism is at best an unconfirmed prediction, and not a well-founded position. It identifies God’s main options for countering human resistance to salvation and explains why they fail to recommend the truth of universalism. We may hope that salvation is universal, but such hope does not enjoy a well-grounded endorsement of the truth of universalism.
