Abstract
This article looks at the reception of Lesslie Newbigin’s missionary encounter with Western culture. It seeks to answer some of the most important criticisms of Newbigin’s project and looks at two attempts to apply Newbigin’s ideas to concrete ecclesial situations. It shows that Newbigin’s project is not just of historical interest but can be regarded as having an ongoing validity.
