Abstract
This article examines the plight of refugees in Africa with a special focus on the problems associated with them. Specific issues highlighted include the definition of refugees; the dependency characteristics developed in refugee camps; the economic constraints on the hosting communities; the security problems associated with refugees; efforts by United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR); and the current working environment in Africa.
