This paper is the first of a series of publications dealing with extensive card research supported by the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center. The paper gives a com prehensive critical review of previous investigations of fiber movement and their dis tribution on card elements. It focuses on principles governing fiber transfer from one card element to another and fiber distribution on different card elements.
