Successful forecasting of likely end breakage rates in spinning is governed by the availability of a reliable predictive model together with appropriate experimental data on yam strength and tension for inclusion in the model. Techniques for assessing dynamic yam strength and yam tension during ring spinning are described and the effects of various processing parameters on the values obtained are reported.
