Filtration flows through various geotextiles are experimentally studied using a laser Doppler velocimetry technique. Comparisons are presented of the hydraulic behavior of needle-punched and heat-bonded geotextiles, and some influences of fabric damage and flow regimes are demonstrated to characterize geotextile efficiency.
