Top and bottom roll wraps can be a significant cost factor in ring spinning. A method of quickly characterizing the wrapping propensity of a given fiber/spinning frame system has been developed. Traditional percent roll wrap information can be calculated, and cost optimized, from the roll wrap frequency obtained in this manner.
