A statistical model for the effects of fiber variables and carpet construction on carpet bulk and texture retention was developed based on a large historical data set. The seven independent variables were sufficient to explain the observed data and to explore the direct and interactive effects of the variables. The model concurs with previously proposed mechanisms and suggests additional mechanisms are also involved.
