Abstract
A laboratory-synthesized resin based on the reaction product of melamine, para formaldehyde, and polyethylene glycol is recommended for modifying silk by pad- dry application to make it transfer printable with disperse dyes. The suitability of the synthesized resin for sublimation transfer printing of silk is evaluated in terms of dye transfer, wash and dry cleaning fastness, and yellowness index. The synthesized resin is suitable not only for transfer printing of silk but can also be used to impart improved physical properties such as crease recovery angle, tensile and tear strength, and abrasion resistance.
