A universal analysis of the behavior of a yam passing over a friction disc in false- twist texturing is given, and a numerical method to determine yam path, tension, and torque over the disc surface is developed. The analysis should be directly applicable to the earlier discs in a stack, where yam twist can be taken as constant, but a mod ification is required for the exit disc.
