Equations are derived for the profile of lockstitch seams in terms of three dimen sionless groups, which can in turn be used to analyze the geometry of a lockstitch seam and the locking point location. These equations can be used to investigate seam deformation as well as, for example, pressure distribution and bending and compression energies.
