Abstract
Two durable press resins, DMDHEU and DMeDHEU, most commonly used in finishing cotton fabrics, were analyzed using near-infrared (NIR) reflectance spec troscopy. The NIR procedure was an acceptable technique for determining the amount of fixed resin on the fabrics. A three-wavelength regression model was used to quan titatively analyze the durable press resin. The NIR values correlated very strongly with the conventional Kjeldahl values with r 2 = 0.96. NIR spectra of DMDHEU and DMeDHEU are discussed.
