Abstract
To explore new methods for testing the irregularity of yams and the blend ratio of blended yarns, a microwave technique was chosen to investigate the role of polymer fibers in microwave resonating fields. This method determines the ratio of yams in a blended sample by ascertaining their longitudinal dielectric properties using a special cavity resonating in mode TM, and also measures the irregularity of the linear density of the yarns by the variation of the transverse dielectric properties of the samples with the cavity resonating in mode TE. A series of experiments was done on a computer- based system and the results are presented.
