Abstract
On-line production monitoring of textile manufacturing operations is used increas ingly, but to fully benefit from this trend in automation, the monitored information should be used for real-time decision making. We have investigated the required changes in the more common methods of workload allocation in weaving, and we propose a different approach to workload allocation, called "team weaving." Through a computer simulation of the weave room operations, we have analyzed the advantages of the proposed approach over current practices.
