Woven fabric was prepared from core yarns having a high tenacity polyester filament core and a cotton wrap. To demonstrate the unique characteristics of this core-yarn fabric, an all-cotton control and a 60% cotton/40% high tenacity intimate blend control were also prepared. The core yarn fabric had superior strength characteristics over the intimate blend and all-cotton controls before and after durable press finishing. A unique property of the core-yarn fabrics was improved cover as demonstrated by air perme ability measurements. The core-yarn fabric was similar to the all-cotton in appearance and pill resistance and had a luxurious full hand.
