In order to exclude the effect of nylon 6 fiber density when determining the degree of orientation, a correction suggested by de Vries is applied. A practical method is presented for determining the anisotropy index, which is indispensable to the density correction. The results show that the density correction should be a constant element in routine structural studies of nylon 6 fibers.
