Abstract
Three disperse dyes were applied on polyester from aqueous and perchloroethylene dyebaths. The perchloroethylene did not change the hue of the shades in the substrate to any noticeable extent, but did depress the glass transition temperature of the polyester film from 85° to 56°C Dyes applied from an aqueous medium were more aggregated than those applied from perchloroethylene. The retained perchloroethylene decreased lightfastness of the dyeings, and for each of the dye studied, the higher the amount of solvent retained, the lower the lightfastness.
