Abstract
The CIE System of color measurement and the uniform colorscale diagram have been applied to the quantitative assessment of color and appearance of nine different varieties of Egyptian cotton fibers. The tristimulus values, chromaticity coordinates, color difference, and dominant wavelength for 24 different samples of these cotton varieties were calculated from their spectral-reHectance values, which were measured using the Pye Unicam SP 1800 spectrophotometer. Grading of Egyptian cotton fibers according to colorimetric parameters was studied. A fitted model equation was suggested for the relationship between luminance value and the respective grade value of different cotton grades.
