The paper presents work on the engineering aspects of controlling cotton dust. The factors that determine the dust conditions in a textile mill are discussed. A room-air mass balance is used to point out some possible control approaches. High-efficiency filtration-research approaches are presented and compared to other options that have not been fully explored. Research needs for cost-effective cotton-dust control are recommended.
