Environmental hazards in manufacturing industries are detailed, and guidelines are presented to enable fabric and garment assemblies to be engineered in such a way as to optimize the protection offered against heat, flame, molten metal, generation of static, electromagnetic radiation, and chemical hazards. Appropriate wool and wool-blend fabrics are critically examined from the point of view of the protection offered, and wherever possible they are compared with fabrics made from other fibers.
