Abstract
A cotton broadcloth and a polyester/cotton broadcloth were successfully treated in the laboratory using a angle pad bath to impart fire resistance and durable press properties. A two catalyst system was used with rol 76, an oligomeric vinyl phosphonate, and either trimethylol acetylene diureine or dimethylol 4,5-dihydroxyethyleneurea in a pad dry cure process. Ignition resistance was determined by exposing the surface of treated fabrics to a small flamc for up to 12 s. Conventional tests were used to determine durable press properties.
