Luster of jute fiber has been measured by the contrast ratio of reflected light and diffusely-scattered light. Better correlation is observed between luster and crystallite orientation, and luster and fiber-bundle tenacity; than between luster and crystallinity. Fibrillar orientation, therefore, plays an important role in developing luster in jute fiber.
