A new high-speed crimping procoss has been developed. Crimping is achieved by passing the yarn over a heated rotat ing knife edge. The relative velocity difference between the knife edge and the yarn is 1 m/s or lower. A maximum yarn speed of up to 25 m/s has been achieved. The effects of processing conditions on crimped yarn characteristics are dis cussed.
