A uniformly twisted model yarn consisting of only two identical nylon-6 filaments is provided and a thin metallic tape is inserted between the two filaments. The relation between the tension of the yarn and the tape withdrawal force is investigated. The parameters that influence the tape withdrawal force are discussed, and it is shown that the lateral force in the yarn is not dependent on the strain cycle history of the yarn, but only on its tension.
