Abstract
For a nylon fabric bent along a line at an angle θ to the direction of the warp threads, the variation in the time-de pendent bending-relaxation rigidity was determined as a function of θ. A previously derived relationship enabled a successful separation of the rigidity into a component due to fiber bending and a component due to fiber torsion. Re covery curves obtained experimentally were found to be almost independent of angle θ and were successfully predicted from a previous model in which the fabric is considered as an anisotropic linear viscoelastic sheet with an internal frictional moment. The component on nonrecovery due to friction was found to be independent of θ.
