By a simple modification, the rheovibron can be used to measure the dynamic mechanical properties of polymeric samples in equilibrium with liquids. Recent studies have shown that liquids capable of specific strong interaction with polymers can cause crystallization to occur. To demonstrate the utility of the modified rheovibron, it has been used to investigate the effect of liquid-induced crystallization on the glass-transition temperature and the dynamic mechanical properties of polyethylene terephthalate film in the presence of various solvents.
