Abstract
A theoretical analysis of the bending and bending recovery properties of monofilaments has been carried out. The analysis treats large bending deformations (beyond yielding) and considers the stress-strain curve of the filaments to be elastoplastic. Two forms of monofilaments, cylindrical and circular helical, have been examined. The bending param eters derived are bending rigidity, bending recovery, and residual moment. These parameters are expressed in terms of filament tensile properties and dimensions.
