Abstract
A study was made of the contribution of swelling to wrinkle recovery of cotton and polynosic fabrics immersed in water or aqueous alkaline solutions. Tests were made in the presence and absence of water or alkali sensitive links other than those produced by the two-step Poly-Set Process and formalin treatments.
Figures of DRWA and WRWA as well as WWRA and 3% alkali-WRA are used to clarify the swelling and scission tendencies inherent in the finishing systems. The relationship between WWRA and alkali-WRA without WWRA were studied. The reasons for the results of WWRA > alkali-WRA or alkali-WRA > WWRA are also discussed.
