A mathematical analysis of the stretch-breaking process used for conversion of endless continuous filaments into staple fiber form is presented. The analysis indicates that the lower the draft or the longer the ratch is, the longer the fibers are. The cumulative fiber length distribution of stretch-broken fibers is obtained assuming a random breakage of filaments. The velocity and acceleration of a point on a single filament in the stretch zone are also obtained in order to be used in the calculation of the effect of temperature of the heater plates used,
