Abstract
It is suggested that water pollution and consumption in dyeing can be reduced greatly by suspending conventional aqueous dyebaths in an inert organic phase of similar density. The feasibility of the method has been verified on a number of important dye-fiber systems. The organic solvents could be reused immediately without an intermediate distillation or other purification step. In a comparison with other processes, emphasis is placed on the possibility of alleviating water problems now, without the need for lengthy development work.
