Abstract
A test method is described based on the cellulose swelling agent cadoxen, a complex compound of cadmium and ethylene diamine. On centrifuging swollen fiber samples under standard conditions, the amount of imbibed cadoxen is shown to be related to the degree of cross-linking. Correlations with wrinkle recovery and wash/wear performance are shown, and it is suggested that the test is useful in evaluating the efficiency of cross-linking finishes.
