Mathematical expressions are derived for the shape of multiple-beam Fizeau fringes and the associated white-light fringes of equal chromatic order crossing a fiber of circular cross section having a core surrounded by a skin. Formulas are obtained for calculating the refractive indices of the core from fringe shifts. A formula is deduced for a fiber having a single medium. An expression for the focal power of a cylindrical fiber is derived and the focal aberration across it is calculated.
