A photochromic mercury dithizonate containing a fiber-reactive dichloro-s-triazinyl group has been synthesized. Indication of reaction of this compound with nylon has been obtained from solvent-extraction studies. The color of the dyed nylon fabric ranges from orange through gray to blue, depending upon the incident light intensity, the ambient temperature, and the moisture content of the fabric.
