Abstract
The rates of absorption of saturated and unsaturated vapors of some model com pounds and disperse dyes by secondary cellulose acetate film have been determined. Initial and integral diffusion coefficients for both types of system and the activation energy of diffusion of azobenzene have been calculated. Low initial rates of absorption from saturated vapor are attributed to a time-dependent surface concentration. Extrap olation of diffusion data for two disperse dyes to higher temperatures gives times of half-dyeing of the same order as those observed in dyeing by dry-heat fixation methods.
