Collins, G.E. , J. Textile Inst.38, T73-77 (1947) has described a Wilhelmy method for measuring contact angles of liquids on fibers which is very similar, except in detail, to the method herein described. Collins uses only two fibers in his frame and reads the pull by means of a microbalance sensitive to 0.003 mg. The 100-fiber frame we use gives an average pull value and does not require precise determination of individual fiber perimeters.
